On the misty forest
28 de agosto de 2015
To be honest, I don't remember the last time I went to the Pena's Palace's Gardens but, after last Tuesday, I'm surely going back. The initial plan was to take a small walk along the gardens and visit the interior of the palace but, when we went to buy the tickets, we were told that there was at least an hour waiting line to get in. With that we decided to just see the gardens and, if we had time, pass near the palace and ask about the line. The day started sunny, though soon enough the sun was covered by the clouds that normally surround Sintra. It wasn't a bad thing, really. The glowing forest became more mystical, and the sunlight turned into an enchanting mist that allowed me to take these stunning pictures. Bad side of things: the walk had to ended earlier than we expected since the wind and cold came as well and our jackets were in the car far bellow where we were. We did try to visit the palace but, when we finally reached it, it was just too late and we wouldn't be able to see it properly (or take any decent pictures!). Hope you like these!
Walk in the park

Here are a couple more photos I took on my last walk in Belém. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but I was able to capture a bit of color on this cloudy day. After our usual stop at Starbucks we decided to take a walk on the nearest park where we found a couple selling all types of balloons for the kids and blowing soap bubbles. Because of the cold the walk ended there, but I was able to take a few pictures of the Jeronimo's Monastery and the Gulbenkian's Planetarium as we walked back to the car. Hope you like them!
Street art I

Since these days art as decided to leave the four enclosing doors of a museum and come outside, I'm probably going to make this a frequent thing. Today I give you a creative (and, let's be honest - cute) creation by Artur Bordalo, or as he is known, Bordalo II, named "Big Raccoon", right in Belém. This artist uses only metal, trash and other found materials to create his masterpieces, making it feel like the sculptures are actually part of the scenery. Bordalo II has more of his artwork scattered across Portugal, and I'm surely interested in seeing what comes next. If you want to follow him go to his Facebook account and be amazed by everything that he has created so far.

Belém

Last Wednesday, after a hard day of work, I went to Belém for a nice walk. The day was kind of windy, and in addition to my cold, it wasn't the most comfortable of walks, but I'll surely never forget it. After driving back and forth to get my camera and, afterwards, to get a memory card for it since I'm a dummy and forgot it on my laptop, we finally arrived to one of my favorite places in Portugal. I don't know what it is but going to Belém is always so exciting - the sea, the people, the buildings...everything! So don't think that this is the last you'll see of this beautiful place.
Walking on sunshine

On the same day that I went to the Fluviarium, my friends and I decided to take a brief walk near the river, along the recently built bridge. It's a simple path, surrounded by the blue and green of nature. Unfortunately some parts of the bridge were burnt by a fire a few years ago. Nevertheless, it was so hot that we decided to go back after a couple of minutes, but I was able to take a couple of photos.
Night sky

Like I promised, here's a few pictures of the night sky that I took last Sunday. It was my first time trying to take pictures like this and it didn't go as bad as I thought it would. Luck stroke me again when I noticed that I had taken a picture of a falling star (down on the first image). This beauty would be impossible to see or achieve on the city, so I'm glad to be able to register these images before someone decided that this village wasn't bright enough at night. Hope you guys like it!
Under the sea

These are just five of the thousands of picture I took today on the Fluviarium in Mora. I remember visiting it when it opened a couple of years ago and it still has that magic, so simple but yet so full of life. The biggest down for me was the fact that the otters' cage was so far away from the path that I could barely take decent pictures, though their cuteness extends infinitely. At least I had the luck to arrive just in time for the caretaker to feed them (it's just two times a day, so...really lucky in my opinion).
Home is where nature is

After three weeks of hard work I finally managed to get a few days to travel with my friends. For today I'll show you a few details of the house and surroundings. Maybe tomorow I'll be able to show you a bit more, especially the night sky.
Sleepy time

If you stay long enough you'll learn that I love cats - especially my cats. This big baby here is Salem, the most playful and loving cat you can find. Also the sleepiest cat. But it's okay...I still love him dearly. Besides, whenever I point the camera at him he thinks he's a model.
